Meet the teachers
Maria Lyvette Loyola - preschool director |
Maria Lyvette Loyola is an early childhood educator and the preschool Director at CCCS. Maria Lyvette graduated from the San Francisco State PATH program with a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development: Concentration in Early Childhood with a minor in Special Education. Maria Lyvette has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 25 years, working in a variety of teaching roles in the preschool stage. In her first years of teaching, Maria Lyvette worked in a private preschool that emphasized art as a “vehicle to learning”. Through this experience, Maria Lyvette has led children to explore their artistic side using different mediums of art, such as mosaics, sculpture, and other mixed media platforms. Using a mixture of learning styles along with incorporating a play-based curriculum, she believes that using sprinkles of many prominent learning theories aid to emphasize social-emotional development for the students she has the privilege to teach.
|
Believing that the first five years of a child’s life are the most critical, Maria Lyvette ardently practices the importance of providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for young children on a daily basis. Immigrating from the Philippines at a tender age, Maria Lyvette grew up in the Bay Area and finds that the Mediterranean-type climate offers a variety of hiking trails to enjoy. On occasion, you can find Maria Lyvette also enjoying trips to the local bookstore and appreciating a latte in neighborhood coffee shops.

Alicia loves her job very much! Her passion to work with little children grows more every day through her everyday experiences with them. It's not just the passion and enthusiasm, it is the effort of putting all the energy, mind, body, heart, and soul into the care of children that makes possible the success and happiness of every child. The first five years of their life are the most amazing and crucial years for a child’s development. That's why her passion is to empower the children with love, joy, self esteem, and confidence. Being a model for them and showing the love of God every day is her joy. She thinks it is so rewarding to go to work and be surrounded by her students and co-workers.
In her spare time, Alicia loves to bake, walk, and spend time with family and friends.

Veronica Sandeen - Core Teacher joined CCCS in 2015, she has eighteen years of experience working in early childhood education. She started working in the education field right after she finished her BA in Early Childhood Education. Born and raised in Ecuador, Veronica moved to the Bay Area to study English. She has always had a job working with children as a preschool and kindergarten teacher.
Veronica believes in providing children with a loving, challenging and fun experience for them to discover themselves and grow with confidence and happiness. She thinks that each child is unique in his or her own way and might learn in different ways than others. By acknowledging this, her goal is to work alongside with each child to meet their individualities in order to maximize their learning. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and twin children. |
Jennifer Elseth - Core Teacher grew up in the east bay. While attending Clayton Valley High School, Jennifer found her love for teaching preschool age and decided to pursue a career in the ECE field. Jennifer’s education led her to DVC that led her to transfer into Chico State University to major in Liberal Studies. Her time at Chico State led her to various opportunities to stretch her growth in teaching a wide age range of children with different abilities through a program called CAVE. These experiences led her to solidify a life choice; that she could make a difference helping and watching children become lifelong learners by teaching the preschool age where the love of exploring and learning is just beginning.
|
Jennifer wholeheartedly believes that it is a joy to walk into a classroom every day to be greeted by a group of children eager to explore and learn about the world around them! Jennifer feels blessed to have the best job in the world watching and teaching the youngest of the world's future leaders. Over the years, Jennifer has taught children from infancy to Pre-K. Her favorite ages are three to five year olds due to their overarching want and need to learn about everything. Jennifer believes that there is nothing better than walking into a classroom full of excited little ones ready to learn and to take on the world!
Haley Fletcher - Core Teacher Hi, I'm Haley and I am excited to be working as the new Preschool / PreK teacher at CCCS. I'm an East Bay native. I attended College Park High School and then DVC where I earned my Early Childhood Education certification. I have been a nanny and have six years experience working with children.
I come from a large family where I am one of nine siblings. I'm from Martinez but currently live in Rodeo with my two cats and pet gecko, Izzy. When I'm not at work, you can find me hiking outdoors or enjoying my favorite food, pizza! I am very grateful to be joining the Contra Costa Christian family. |
Wendy Martinez - Core Teacher has had a focus and passion for working with children since she first accepted Christ at the age of 12. All those years of Sunday School and VBS experiences as a child made a positive impression on her life and she grew up with a desire to pass on that blessing.
Then after learning the Spanish language, she volunteered at CASA AYUDA in Guatemala, Central America. She was the preschool director, working side by side with native teachers and writing curriculum. Wendy was a “stay home” mom for 14 years, and during 5 of those years, she homeschooled their son David and daughter Keren from 3rd grade through 8th grade. |
Wendy began to formally work at CVPCC children’s center in 1997. She remained there for 23 years, serving in a variety of roles. She and her husband, Victor, enjoy hiking. Wendy loves guitar music and enjoys listening to and singing Spanish worship.
