The CCCS Drama Department puts on two full productions per year in the fall and in the spring. All sixth through twelfth graders are eligible to audition.
Our drama department is what we like to call a “teaching” drama department. This means that a student does not need to know how to sing, dance, or act when they audition; they will be taught throughout the rehearsal process. With this being said, we put on excellent productions, so we require a hearty work ethic and a positive attitude. We also have a ton of fun!

CastThe cast works closely with Miss Oertel to learn and hone their acting, singing, and dancing skills. They work to make each production excellent. While in the cast, students gain friendships, confidence, and a quality work ethic. Each show brings new opportunities, like learning to tap dance, learning ventriloquism, or performing assemblies at other schools. And through it all, we share a lot of laughs!

Stage crewBefore the show’s premiere, the stage crew is the team of students who help build and paint sets, make props, figure out lighting cues, and more. During each performance, all their work comes together. They work behind-the-scenes to move sets, prepare props, and work the lights. This is a great opportunity for students who love theatre or being part of a team but don’t like the attention of being in the spotlight on stage.

Crazy For You (spring 2024)A zany rich-boy-meets-hometown-girl romantic comedy, Crazy For You tells the story of young New York banker Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a rundown theatre. Guys and Dolls (spring 2023)Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result.

Miracle on Cell Block 6 (fall 2022)It’s Christmas Eve and five Christmas characters (snobby Mrs. Claus, feminist Jill Frost, innkeepers Morty and Deb Steinberg, and philosophical-but-only-able-to-grunt Abominable Snowman) have landed themselves in jail. Over the course of the night, they share their arrest stories with each other. In a bizarre twist of fate, the stories are all connected to a youth group’s Christmas pageant at Dream and Esteem Church. This uproaringly funny Christmas caper includes other characters like the mentally-tortured Scrooge and the fist-bumping and stereotypical youth pastor, Youth Pastor Brian.
